Name: Kagami
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Kagami's father was human, but her mother was half fire-demon. Thus, Kagami's race, as one would put it, would be categorized as one-fourth fire demon.
Appearance:
Kagami's facial features are a mix of both her demon blood and her human blood. She has a pretty face with daint features that resemble her father's side of the family. Her hair and eyes though, are a different matter, as they are the prominent proof of her fire demon blood. Her eyes are a dark, liquid amber that everyone on her mother's side of the family share. Her hair though, is neither the color of her mother's nor her father's, but rather both combined. Her mother's fiery red hair clashes with her father's subtle brown, creating a reddish auburn that belongs to Kagami alone. Kagami's body is that of a slim, lean build, but like all other teenagers, Kagami is constantly fretting about her weight. She wears a plum-colored kimono decorated with flowers in the colors of orange, white, and lighter shades of purple.
Personality: Kagami is calm, level-headed, and typically smart. She sometimes seems to be a bit egotistic, mainly because people mistake her pride for a superiority-complex. The truth is, though, she actually has a bit of an inferiority-complex, but she never seems to show it unless someone says something that really gets to her. Kagami has a very determined and focused nature, and she finds it hard to put her energy into more than one thing. She is kind, but in a subtle way. Kagami has the habit to look down on others and point out their faults and mistakes, not out of spite, but more or less out of some form of help. She also gets offended pretty easily, but won't act out on it unless it really bugs her.
Powers: Like most on her mother's side of the family, Kagami has the uncanny ability to create and control fire. Due to intense training, her fire powers are up to par and as good as any other fire demon's, despite her human blood.
History: Kagami was raised by both of her parents in a large village close to the ocean. Despite the fact that her mother was half-demon, both of her parents were very respected and popular in the village, and thus Kagami never had a problem with her bloodline affecting her socially. In fact, the village actually worshipped fire demons and treated Kagami and her family with utmost respect. Kagami, as a young child around the age of five or so, didn't understand this until she learned that the fire demons on her mother's side of the family actually protected and looked over the villagers in return for food and housing. Suddenly proud of her heritage, Kagami made an effort to show off her own fire skills for the first time. She was shocked and devestated to learn that the only thing she could make was pathetic wisps of smoke. Upset and confused, Kagami came to the conclusion that she was a defect, and thus her low self-confidence was born. Each time her cousins (full-fledged fire demons on her mother's side) showed off their magnificent, natural pyro skills, her inferiority-complex would grow.
At the age of nine her frustration was too much to handle, and she demanded her parents to tell her why she didn't have fire powers like her relatives. Surprised that their daughter had shown interest in her lacking of fire powers, her parents explained that her human blood overshadowed her demon blood, and so she most likely wouldn't have any powers and if she did they would be weak. Feeling dejected and useless, Kagami started to doubt her usefulness until her grandfather (her mother's father who was full fire demon) offered to teach her pyro skills. Kagami asked him why he would even bother if there was no hope, and he responded by telling her that as long as there was fire demon blood in her, there was always potential, it would just take more effort because of her human blood. Ecstatic, Kagami took him on his offer, and seven years of tedious training followed.
After much blood, sweat, and tears, Kagami finally learned how to reach her full fire potential. By the time she was sixteen, Kagami's fire powers were stronger than her own mother's, and it was then that Kagami decided to start traveling. It's been a year since she started off on her own, though Kagami does visit her village every once in awhile.
Sample RP : "OUCH!" shrieked a 17-year-old girl as she held her burned hand and stared at it with eyes filled with agonizing pain. Her grandfather looked at her and sighed, shaking his head slowly. "Kah-gah-mee..." he said, stressing every syllable in the girl's name. "You're not focused enough... you keep on letting your fear get to you. You have to hold it back.." the man said, his amber eyes strict and amused at the same time. Kagami turned her head sharply and glared at her grandfather with angry eyes. "I'm trying! I've been trying, and I just can't do it... I can't!" she hissed, wrapping her injured hand in the sleeve of her kimono. Looking at him, you would never guess that this man was her grandfather. He looked much too young. He could pass for her father, perhaps, or maybe even an older brother, but he was neither; he was her grandfather who was blessed with the long-lasting youth that his demon blood granted him. "Hmm... perhaps you are too young, maybe that's why.." he mused, staring at his granddaughter intently. "No, it's because my human blood is too strong... I may excel in my pyro skills, but let's face it, there are some things I won't be able to do.." she began, unwrapping her hand to reveal that it had healed itself. She was lucky it wasn't too burnt, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to heal. Had she placed her hand in a fire she created herself, it would have been fine. It was impossible for her to burn herself with her own fire. However, she was prone to getting burned from other fires though, which was impossible for full-fledged fire demons. If her grandfather walked through a wall of fire, he would come out absolutely fine. If she walked through a wall of fire that she hadn't created, then she would be burned and most likey die. It was a bit embarressing, but just another burden to life that she had to accept. Her grandfather had thought that he could try to teach her to build an immunity to fire burns, but he was wrong, and they both knew it. There were a lot of things that Kagami would never be able to do, but she was okay with that. She was lucky to have any powers at all, after all, she was more human than demon. With a heavy sigh, she dusted off her kimono and turned to her grandfather with a small smile. "Well, I'll be on my way. It was a nice visit though, except for the part where I severely burned myself..." she said, twisting her smile into a fake frown. Her grandfather chuckled and waved as she picked up a bag and started down the road that led from the village into the forest.
